Hiroshima 09:15 - 6th of August 1945

The B-29 "Enola Gay" dropped a plutonium bomb called "Little Boy" that exploded 500m/1600feet above ground, almost directly above what is now known as the Atomic Bomb Dome.
The perfect dome was one of the few structures that could resist the shock wave from the bomb and kept the building from being completely leveled.

This statue from the Jizoson temple at ground zero has a shadow burned into it from the blast. (At the base of the statue)

The remains of a school uniform that was on the body of a boy. Of the 250,000 people in the city: 70,000 Dead and 70,000 Injured.

Melted wine bottles.

Glass containers.

A model of the city before the blast. The Atomic Bomb Dome building is lower left center.

And after. The "T-Bridge" at the bottom was the landmark the bomber used to target the drop. To the right is a school which was in session at the time of the explosion. Of the 90,000 buildings in the city 60,000 were destroyed.

A wider view of the damage. The bomb was dropped by parachute and, unfortunately, it was a perfectly clear day. People all across the city heard the plane and were staring at the parachute wondering what it was when it exploded. People no where near the bomb were instantly blinded.

Peace Memorial.
Nagasaki 11:01 - 9th of August 1945

The B-29 named "Bockscar" dropped a plutonium bomb called "Fat Man" that exploded 500m/1600feet above this exact location.

The Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum houses the official registry where the list of victims is kept.

Of the estimated 240,000 in the city that day: 73,884 Dead, 74,909 Injured and 120,000 Homeless. (180 degree Panorama taken from Mt. Inasa. Sorry for the quality the radio antennas interfered with the camera.)

A survivors story. "There was a roar in the distance, and in the next instance an increadible blast threw my body through the air."

On this statue you can see the shadow created by the nuclear blast.

Peace Memorial grounds dedicated to the victims.
